Software and interfaces the way they should be — clear, fast, and actually finished.
I'm Kyle — ImKyleJK— a 20-year-old freelance developer and designer shipping full-stack products, UI & logo design, and the infrastructure underneath. Based in Fort William, Scotland, remote-friendly.
Craft
Clean UI, deliberate motion, and logos with intent — visual work that earns its place, not decoration bolted on afterwards.
Full-stack
Node.js APIs, Svelte and Next.js apps, and real databases behind real client work — not just prototypes.
Labs
Tailwind.Help, GoSIP.space, xDemo.tech — small, sharp tools built and shipped in public to learn faster.
Open source
Contributing back, documenting as I go, and giving away the tooling that made my own work easier.
What I actually work with
Full-stack development, interface and identity design, and the infrastructure underneath all of it.
Node.js APIs
Express and hand-rolled services — auth, webhooks, queues, the boring parts done properly.
Svelte & Next.js apps
Full-stack product builds from scoped MVP to something you'd actually hand to a client.
Tailwind design systems
Tokens, components, and a spacing rhythm that holds up past the first ten screens.
UI design
Interfaces, prototypes, and the visual hierarchy that makes software feel obvious to use.
Logo & identity marks
Wordmarks, monograms, and simple identity systems — no 40-page brand book required.
MongoDB & PostgreSQL
Whichever real database the client project calls for — this site itself runs on SQLite.
Docker & Linux
Ubuntu boxes, Docker Compose stacks, and deploys that don't need a runbook to reproduce.
DNS, Nginx, reverse proxies
BIND9, Let's Encrypt, and reverse proxies that route traffic without surprises at 2am.
VoIP / PBX & monitoring
FreeSWITCH, FusionPBX, Zabbix, Uptime Kuma — infrastructure that tells you when it's unwell.
Selected work
A mix of full-stack builds, interface design, and identity work — mostly labs projects I own end to end.
xDemo.tech — spin up disposable client demos
A full-stack tool for spinning up throwaway demo environments so client pitches don't need a real deploy.
Tailwind.Help — a reference that respects your time
A fast, dark-mode-first Tailwind CSS reference and cheat sheet, designed so answers show up before the page has finished feeling like it loaded.
The ImKyleJK mark
Designing my own wordmark and monogram — the identity system behind this site, GitHub, and everywhere else I show up as ImKyleJK.

How it runs
Tell me what you're building
Or fixing. A quick call or a written brief — whatever gets to the real problem fastest.
Scope, timeline, and design direction
A clear plan before any code gets written, with a design direction we've both signed off on.
Build in the open
Clear milestones as we go, with regular check-ins instead of a black box until launch day.
Ship, document, hand over
A working, documented handover — not a project that only makes sense to me.

I studied Scottish Nat5 and Higher Computing, completed an HVA in Cyber Security and a Foundation Apprenticeship in Software Development with UHI West Highland, and I'm on a part-time BSc (Hons) in Applied Software Development. I build with Node.js, Svelte, Next.js, Express, and Tailwind — design UIs and logos — and care about the infrastructure underneath. I love small projects that grow skill, and I ship them in public.
